Review: W - Two Worlds
Oh God! *sigh* I was looking really forward to write this review.. It's been only 10 minutes after I finished watching the last episode and it's the right time to talk about this drama.! (Maybe my more overbiased review, who knows ><)
W is a South Korean drama broadcasted by MBC from July 20 to September 14 of 2016.
Synopses: Cardiothoracic surgeon Oh Yeon Joo's father mysteriously went missing while writing the last chapter of his webtoon "W". Yeon Joo goes to his office and is shocked to see a scene of a bloodied Kang Cheol, the main character of W, on her father's monitor. While reading something left behind by her father, a hand from the monitor pulled her in. She found herself on the rooftop of a building, next to man lying down in blood. She manages to save him and realizes that the person she saved was Kang Cheol. She then found out that she can only enter and leave the webtoon based on Kang Cheol's change in feelings. The most sincere way to begin this review is: DAEBAK! It begins introducing to us Oh Yeon Joo, a cardiothoracic surgeon resident whose father is a the author of the most popular webtoon on South Korean called W. She receives a call from Park Soo Bong, her good friend and the assistant of her father, where he tells that her father went missing. Searching for clues about the whereabouts of her father she gets dragged into W and, without knowing, she ends up saving Kang Chul.
Kang Chul is a olimpic medalist that served in jail for the murder of his family although he was innocent. When he gets released he doesn't know what to do with his life anymore and attempts suicide, but he gave up at the end and decides to use his life to search for the real murderer of his family and to help people who suffered the same of him. As he's a genius computer engineer and forming a team with all kind of specialists, he starts to help the police to finish cases and begins to be one kind of hero to society. He has by his side his childhood friend Yoon Soo Hee and his bodyguard/best friend Seo Do Yoon, but after almost ten years he hasn't found out anything that leaded him to the real killer.
After being saved by a strange woman called Oh Yeon Joo, he starts to believes that she's the key of his life, the only person who can answer all of his questions and then starts to look for her everywhere. At the same time Oh Yeon Joo keeps getting dragged into the webtoon world, saving Kang Chul's life every time and getting involved with him. She then finds out that her father, Oh Sung Moo, is the one who is trying to kill him as the character seems to being brought to life.
Rating
⇒ Story: 8.5/10.
This was one of the most original plots that I've ever watched in korean dramas and it was wrote beautifully. Kang Chul is such an amazing character, he's so wise and competent but at the same time you can feel how lonely and sad he is. How he deals with his family issues and how much he dots his friends is really beautiful and charming, I must say that Kang Chul is definitively one of the most charming characters of this season (maybe he's just losing for the Crown Prince of Love in the Moonlight *____*). Then we have Oh Yeon Joo who is a kind of weird female lead: I dunno if I can call her wise, but she's really smart and catch everything really fast. It's kinda obvious that she has some problems with her father, but although their relationship are not the best she still loves and dote him very much. Oh Sung Moo is the kind of character that or you love or you hate, but I loved how the writers developed all the important characters here. The romance between Kang Chul and Oh Yeon Joo is really good! They've amazing
g chemistry with a lot of amazing kisses, sweet and cute moments, the way they look at each other it's kinda impossible to describe.. but the plot goes beyond the romance as they work really hard to solve the mystery behind what is happening with them. I loved all the story, and I dunno how can I describe it more without spoiling it ><. I just didn't give it a 10, 'cause I thought that at the end there was something that went missing so a 8.5 is okay.
⇒ Acting/Cast: 10/10.
- Han Hyo Joo as Oh Yeon Joo:
As a huge fan of Han Hyo Joo (since Dong Yi and Always) I never doubt her acting skills, but when I read about her comeback to the little screen I prayed for a good role.. and, oh man, she doest know how to choose her roles! At the beginning there was some scenes that I felt like she was kind of uncomfortable, but after some time she was herself again being really good! I must say that when she opens her big eyes and a tear drops, my heart cries with her T_____T'. I loved her here! Such a great comeback to the little screen and such an amazing chemistry with Lee Jong Suk! (KISSES, KISSES EVERYWHERE PLEASE!)
Lee Jong Suk as Kang Chul: First of all what is this man in his all jeans look?! So freaking sexy!!! LJK just did here what he's really good at: beautiful acting skills, one of the most handsome smiles at this industry, an amazing work with such deep and difficult characters, and definitively the most freaking/crazy/handsome face when he cries (I really can't deal with his face when he cries, it's like he's with one hammer at his hand and is destroying my heart ><). I can't imagine any other actor playing Kang Chul and it's really nice to see how much he's growing as an actor, after every work I keep wanting more and expecting more from LJS (until now never got disappointed!).
[caption id="attachment_1411" align="aligncenter" width="387"]freaking/crazy/handsome face T___T[/caption]
Kim Eui Song as Oh Sung Moo: He was great, really. I know that you'll probably spent half or more of the drama really wishing bad things for him, but at the end you can say that what he did was kind of justifiable. I really don't know a lot of KES works, just watched W and SFD with him, but overall he did a great job here. PS: I find his eyes kind of scary.
- Lee Shi Eon as Park Soo Bong: I just loved him! H
e was funny from the beginning to the ending and I loved almost all of the scenes with him. I do love LSE works and I hope that someday he can get a main role, he deserves it.
- Lee Tae Hwan as Seo Do Yoon/Jung Eugene as Yoon Soo Hee: Both did a good job, but I felt that towards the end their characters got a little lost at the story.
⇒ Music: 10/10
This drama does have a lot of great songs, I'm kinda addicted to listen all of this OST.. But here are my favorites:

⇒ Rewatch value: 8/10.
⇒ Overall: 10/10.
I must say that ever since I watched the first teaser of W, I was over excited: it was the comebackk of Han Hyo Joo to TV and she was being paired with Lee Jong Suk, in my head the chances of this drama being a terrible one was almost zero. The plot is so original, the episodes are so well written and the teasers for the next week episodes were so well done that waiting was like a torture to me. I'm not a really hard person to please, but from some time I'm becoming more rigorous while watching dramas (maybe because I keep getting myself liking more underrated dramas than the ones on top) and this drama was a BANG! I had a lot of mental breakdowns during this drama and every moment was really a pleasure to watch, I didn't
skip anything at this drama.. anything at all. The one thing that I really, really enjoyed was the scenes with transition between the real world and the webtoon world! But I must agree that the special effects at Oh Sung Moo face was really ugly, *sigh* and some outfits of KC and OYJ too. For me rating it with 10 is a pleasure, is just giving it the score that it deserves. The originality, the acting, the scenery, the chemistry, the cast, the music/sound, the development of the plot/characters was really well done. I do agree that there are some questions that needed to be answered and weren't, but for me it doesn't matter as was a guilty and loveable pleasure to watch this drama. Now, I'm really sad that it came to an end and I'll miss it really bad.

2016 is being an amazing year for dramas! Wow! Another great one came to an end and put our expectations for those who are coming really high! Until now my favorites dramas of the year are: W - Two Worlds, One more happy ending, Beautiful Mind and Another Miss Oh (Gave 10 for all of them!). What about you guys? What are your favorites dramas of 2016 till now? Do you guys liked W as I did?
Kissus!
